| Each "Profiles School Report Card" consists of a
two-page document. In the real world, each report is a two-sided document which is folded
in half like a students report card. On our web site however, each side must be
displayed separately. We start with the inside of the document.
The information presented here is divided into the same three major reporting categories
used in the other documents: (1) Community Characteristics, (2) School Educational
Process, and (3) Student Performance. Each reporting category is represented by a section
of information (see diagram below).

The first section, labeled Community Characteristics, provides a
statistical sketch of the featured Schools community.
The second section, labeled School Educational Process, reflects the
learning environment provided by the school.
The third section, labeled Student Performance, contains information on
test scores for all state mandated tests. High school report cards have additional performance measures to complete the
educational performance picture.
The second page of the report is what would be the front and back cover
of the document when folded. The front cover (right side of the page) identifies the
School and gives the information required to contact the Principal. The bottom of this
section also contains a message from the Secretary of Education or the chairman of the Education Oversight Board.
Information is provided regarding the school's performance as compared to the Education Oversight
Boards 70% Performance Benchmark.

The back cover (left side of the page) is an area that is reserved for
comments from the principal, which he or she adds before sending the document out to
parents. Please contact the individual principals for copies of their comments.
Remember, when evaluating education, no single score or ratio can
measure the academic soundness of a state, district, school, or student. The various
factors that contribute to the educational process must be evaluated while taking into
consideration their interrelationship. This is a difficult, but important, task.
